Enchanting earrings for your inner and outer goddess!
I made these with vintage brass components that I drilled and beaded with vintage glass seed beads, freshwater pearls and Akuaba fertility doll charms.
They hang 5.5 inches long from sterling silver ear hooks. I have cleaned all of this vintage brass to a shine with some serious polish and industrial strength elbow grease, however some patina spots do exist -- this only adds to its unique charm!
Akuaba are wooden ritual fertility dolls from Ghana and nearby areas. Traditionally, these dolls are carried on the back of women either hoping to conceive a child, or to ensure the attractiveness of the child being carried. The most well recognized of these are the ones made by the Ashanti tribe of Ghana, who make these dolls with large disc-shaped heads.
